  • Organisational Development (culture, values and behaviours)
  • IT and the value of Social Platforms (IT system integration & communication)

We ask Trustees to become a theme Champion so they can use their insight to ensure that the Board make sound decisions and encourage the Age UK Staffordshire leadership and management team to remain ahead of the curve relating to longer-term plans, priority setting, service development/improvement and good governance.

Across Staffordshire, there is a desire to work collaboratively on the following themes:

  • Reduce isolation and loneliness
  • Prevent, reduce and recover from falls and accidents
  • Ensure older people are warm, have access to nutritious food and remain well hydrated
  • People can plan ahead - access the right support at the right time
  • Seek and access useful and valued information
  • Provide support for those experiencing dementia and other long term conditions (including support for family and carers)
  • The concept of ‘Community is the Best Medicine’

What does Age UK Staffordshire do?

Age UK Staffordshire works across the above themes providing high quality care and support through a number of services:

We also provide advocacy for older people at the strategic and local level by working with and advising/supporting the decision making of key partners and stakeholders.

What will my involvement be?

Your involvement as a Trustee will include:

  • Working with and supporting Trustees who hold similar values
  • Being the Board Champion for a theme that you have a genuine interest in, and an experience-based track record
  • Ensuring that our governance and decision-making is appropriate and fit for purpose
  • Contributing to a broad range of priorities and activity in a hugely rewarding way
  • Shaping an organisation so that it provides the best care and support for older people, families and carers in Staffordshire

Is being a Trustee for me?

If you believe that you have the skills, knowledge and expertise to match the available roles and you would like to use your insight to shape Age UK Staffordshire’s activity in furthering our impact, please consider becoming one of our new Trustees.

Does the idea of being a Trustee with Age UK Staffordshire provide you with a sense of purpose? Does the above resonate with you, and you feel that you have something to offer older people in Staffordshire with a matching sense of purpose in providing really sound advice when key decisions are being made? Could you offer 4 or more hours a month in a voluntary capacity?

We look forward to hearing from you very soon.
