Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes has been a trustee of Age UK since 2009. Chris is Age UK’s representative on the Board of AGE NI in Northern Ireland.

Chris retired as a Business Development Director with GCap Media in 2008. At the time, GCap Media was the country’s largest Commercial Radio Company, owner of Classic FM and over 50 local radio companies nationwide.

He has a long career history in the media, joining the BBC in 1971.

Chris later moved to commercial station, Radio Trent, and subsequently became Managing Director, overseeing the growth of the company into Leicester and Derby.

Chris is Chairman of Derby University and is Treasurer of both the Nottingham Community Foundation and one of the country’s leading peer led community initiatives, Nottingham’s Prostitute Outreach Workers.

Passionate about bird-watching, Chris is currently the treasurer of Nottinghamshire Birdwatchers and the Ornithological Society of the Middle East.
