We're a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. We want everyone to be able to love later life.

Who we are

Age UK Bromley & Greenwich is an independent local charity. We've been working in the local community to help older people for over 30 years, starting out as Age Concern Greenwich (1986) and Age Concern Bromley (1997) before merging in 2011 and becoming Age UK Bromley & Greenwich.

We have nearly 100 dedicated staff and over 400 volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in Bromley & Greenwich.

Where you can find us

We have an office in Bromley and Greenwich, along with a Day Opportunities Centre and a charity shop in each borough.

How we are funded

We rely on your support to keep serving the community. We are supported by donations from the public, income from our charity shops, and some charitable grants.

What we do

  • We give advice

Our trained advisors offer free information and advice to older people and their families. In 2016 our advisers helped local older people to claim over £500,000 that they were entitled to.

  • We offer home help

We offer home support services to help with shopping an cleaning and gardening. We help over 100 older people to get their food shopping every month.

  • We befriend

Our volunteer befrienders visit lonely older people in the community who have no one to talk to. In 2017 our volunteers visited 300 older people who would otherwise be alone.

  • We provide activities

Our day centre has a wide range of activity groups and events, such as lunch clubs and exercise classes, giving older people the opportunity to keep fit, socialise, or learn a new skill.

Meet our people

  • Meet our staff

We have a team of nearly 100 dedicated staff members, helping us to deliver our diverse services such as information and advice, exercise classes, home visits, dementia clubs, befriending, volunteering and Men in Sheds as well as staff behind the scenes helping to make sure everything runs smoothly including our Senior Management Team, Finance team, PA and Office Manager.
