Every March and October, Age UK, along with other national charities, takes part in Free Wills Month.
What is Free Wills Month?
Free Wills Month is a campaign which offers people aged 55 and over the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated free of charge by one of the participating solicitors.
An up to date will written by a solicitor can help to ensure your wishes will be respected. It allows you to provide for your family and friends and leave a gift to your chosen charities too. By being part of this we also hope that our supporters would kindly consider supporting Age UK with a gift in their will, although there is no obligation to do so.
Where does the campaign take place?
Participating solicitors can be found in the following areas:
Blackpool, Buckinghamshire, Chichester/Worthing, Chesterfield, Coventry, Crawley, Darlington, Eastbourne, Essex, Harrogate, Hastings, Hertfordshire, Kent, Liverpool, London and locations bordering the M25 including Berkshire, Middlesbrough, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northampton, Peterborough, Sheffield, Sunderland, Wirral, Wolverhampton.
Who is the campaign open to?
Free Wills Month is intended for individuals or couples aged 55 and over. If you are making your will as a couple, only one of you needs to be over 55.
Straightforward wills are provided for free during the campaign. If you think your will may be more complicated, please check with your solicitor before booking as there may be a charge to cover the extra work.
It’s worth noting that the numbers of appointments are limited, so we recommend you book your appointment with your chosen solicitor as soon as you can. Once all available appointments are booked the campaign will close which may be before the end of the campaign month - so don't hesitate and get started now!
How can I take part?
- Go to the Free Wills Month website to check the available campaign locations.
- Type in your postcode to find out which solicitors are taking part in the campaign in your local area.
- Make an appointment directly with the participating solicitor during the campaign month.
Every gift makes a difference
If you decide to take part in the campaign, there is no obligation to include a gift to Age UK in your will. We would be extremely grateful, however, if you, after taking care of your loved ones, could consider remembering us in this way.
Gifts in wills are vital in helping us to be here, day after day, for older people who need our help and support.
