Our Lower Wick walking group is a recognised NHS Health walk, meaning it's free to join and attend, easy and accessible. The group walk at a steady pace, lasting around an hour taking in the stunning scenery Lower Wick and Worcester has to offer. Many of the members find these walks to be therapeutic as the route is peaceful and they feel part of a community.

"People of all abilities join the weekly walks, one gentleman that is on crutches started coming three weeks ago and has already seen the health benefits" said Hilary, a Walk Leader that has been attending the group for many years. "Walks are at a medium pace, we don't go fast and it suits the group because they vary in age range and some are quite elderly, but they just love it. They have walking sticks but it doesn't deter them."

"Some members live on their own, they find it so nice to be able to look forward to a Monday morning where they'll get some exercise and socialise with the group." they added.

The team also organise special trips to nearby national trusts and meals for special occasions such as Christmas meals.

Thinking about volunteer roles?

Become a Walk leader, where you can lead the walking group around the set walk that week and be a point of contact for the group and Age UK H&W.

Please contact volunteering@ageukhw.org.uk to share your interest in the role.

When is it?
The group meet every Monday morning at 10:15, come rain or shine at:

Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire
Malvern Gate Business Park
Bromwich Road
Worcester
WR2 4BN

Feel free to stay after the walk for a cup of tea and a chat with other members. Please note that all we ask is a contribution of 50p towards hot drinks which goes to the running costs of the group.
