Age UK Lewisham and Southwark (AUKLS) is looking for a dynamic, compassionate and community-focused individual to lead our Macmillan Cancer Champions Service. This vital role supports underrepresented communities in Lewisham to raise cancer awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to screening and wellbeing services.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a community-led programme to raise cancer awareness and tackle stigma
- Manage and support a Volunteer Coordinator and a team of Cancer Champions
- Build partnerships with local health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations
- Ensure inclusive, culturally sensitive engagement with underserved communities
- Monitor impact and report to funders and stakeholders

Macmillan Personalised Care Cancer Social Prescribing Facilitator

This post will support adults in Lewisham who are experiencing cancer treatment and want to take proactive steps to get and stay well. Depending on the goals they set for themselves, you will introduce them to exercise classes, adult learning opportunities, social groups and other wellbeing opportunities to keep their minds focused on the future and getting better.
You’ll work directly with people living with cancer to:
- Complete Holistic Needs Assessments (HNAs)
- Co-create Personalised Care and Support Plans
- Connect individuals to local wellbeing, mental health, and community services
- Break down barriers to access for those often left behind

Handyperson

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To deliver a Handyperson Service which supports older people aged 50+ in Southwark remain living independently at home.
KEY TASKS
- To provide a reliable and professional Handyperson Service to a consistently high standard including (but not exclusively):
- Supplying and fitting key safes
- Completing Home Fire Safety checks and fitting smoke alarms
- Securing carpets
- Securing trailing wires and flexes
- Fitting bathroom accessories including bathroom cabinets
- Replacing curtain rails, poles and blinds
- Joinery work, including fitting shelves and interior doors
- Replacing toilet seats, sealant around bath/sink
- Fitting stair rails, grab rails
- Fitting Yale & Chubb locks
- Minor gate and fence repairs
- Putting up shelves, pictures and mirrors
- Decluttering
- Light gardening – summer months only
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current standards applicable, Health and Safety requirements and to the satisfaction of the client
- Ensure the client’s home is left clean and tidy on completion of the work and be responsible for the safe and proper removal of waste and debris
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Having good conversations with the older person to identify any further support needed and complete Trusted Assessor assessments where applicable and referring into internal services
- Working effectively with the office team to feedback on jobs and any issues arising
