Home Support Staff Needed

Do you enjoy the company of people, are you reliable, able to work flexibly, have good communication skills, and are willing to learn how to meet the individual needs of the person you are assisting?

Duties may include assisting with personal care, assistance with social and educational opportunities and accessing work.

We have a range of hours available between 16 to 30 hours per week. Current rates are £7.20 per hour which will rise to £7.50 from 1 April 2017. Travel time is paid, as well as mileage if you are a car driver, at a rate of 25p per mile.

A QCF Level 2/Level 3 qualification is desirable but not essential as we offer full training. If successful you will have a company induction programme, paid Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (DBS), free uniforms, and 5.6 weeks of holiday per year, pro rata to hours worked.

As well as a range of general vacancies, we are looking for staff to join a small staff team working in the Jesmond area, supporting a professional musician with all personal, domestic and social needs. It is essential that you have a full driving licence, valid for the UK, as you will be driving our customer to work using his vehicle, to appointments and social functions. There will also be opportunities to travel to events across the UK and abroad with him. Hours available are every Monday and Thursday 9am - 12am, and alternate Fridays and Sundays 9am - 12am.

Chair Vacancy

Age UK Newcastle is the leading older people’s organisation in the city, and has been working with and for older people since 1965, providing a wide range of support and opportunities to help make later life better for people living in Newcastle.

We are seeking a Chair to lead Age UK Newcastle into an ambitious and challenging new phase of its development. This is an exciting opportunity to “lead the change”, explore new collaborative ventures and find innovative solutions, working with Age UK nationally, with Age UKs across the North East, and local stakeholders.

We are looking for an exceptional inspirational leader, who possesses pizazz, diplomacy and powers of persuasion; well connected, with contacts from a range of sectors: public, private and voluntary. You will have extensive leadership experience at Board level and significant experience of delivering effective governance.

An advocate for older people and an ambassador for the organisation you will be able to demonstrate commitment to Age UK Newcastle’s vision, values and strategic aims, sharing our drive and ambition to change lives. You will need to commit enough time and energy to leading the organisation, which will be about 25 days a year. This is a voluntary role; expenses will be paid.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive in driving forward delivery of our strategy, ensuring the continued transformation of Age UK Newcastle allowing us to meet the changing needs faced by our ageing population.

Volunteer Opportunities for Professionals 

Our busy back office team have lots of project based administrative, operational and marketing work for willing and able volunteers. You may have recently retired from professional/office work or are leaving University with a degree in a particular area of expertise eg. HR, Business Management and are looking to get some experience.
