Raising awareness of the importance of early diagnosis of dementia amongst all community grups is the key area of work for our Dementia Support Worker - Hard-to Reach Groups:

Information and Advice

We offer free information and advice locally that helps hundreds of people every year.  We have a wide range of fact sheets that we can give out and have details of numerous organisations across the borough that may be able to help you if we can't.

Help at Home

Our Help at Home Service offers a helping hand around the home for tasks you may need or want a little help with such as cleaning, shopping and ironing.  Our vetted and supervised staff provide a high quality, friendly service to people across the Walsall borough.

Pathways for Life

Pathways for Life provides a range of information, advice and support for people with dementia, their carers, family and friends.  Whether it's immediatley following diagnosis or you're worried about yourself or someone you know, we have someone here to help.

How Age UK Walsall makes a difference

Combatting Loneliness

We run a Friendship Support Scheme, pairing an older person with a volunteer befriender to help provide companionship.  We also run a telephone befriending service for those who would prefer to just chat with someone over the phone.

Supporting Carers

We run a support service for carers of people with dementia, delivered within the individual's own home. The service provides proactive, person-centred interaction with the cared-for person, providing valued respite for the carer.

Managing a Personal Budget

We provide support for people who have chosen to manage their support for their social care or health packages via a Personal Budget.
