Veterans Facebook Group

Published on 29 June 2020 02:01 PM

While we can't meet face to face as easy as before and all of our social groups have been put on hold, we have set up a Bradford District Veterans Facebook Group, which is a great way for veterans to link up with people in the area with similar experiences and interests.

We can't fully replace the benefits of meeting up and socialising for a meal or a drink, but we hope veterans can feel more connected to the community and gain access to information and support from Age UK Bradford District by joining the group.

To join the group, visit Age UK Bradford District's Facebook page and you'll find Bradford District Veterans under 'Groups'.

Cllr Joanne Dodds, Armed Forces Champion, Great Horton Ward says
"The Veterans Breakfast Club is very special and I for one look forward to them restarting. It is heart-warming to listen to them reminiscing together and sharing their experiences of life in the Armed Forces. They certainly are a welcoming group with great camaraderie and friendship. With the social isolation that people have felt throughout this pandemic clubs like the Veterans Breakfast club are needed more than ever, they are a lifeline to some and also give us that opportunity to inform, update and add to their wellbeing."

Mr B Defurey(Ex Royal Navy) says
"I'm sure I speak on behalf of many Military Veterans when I say what a great event the Veterans Breakfast Club is. Many of us wish it could be a more regular thing. It brings together Ex-Vets who love to share stories of their younger days in the Forces and this really does brighten that one day. I've also heard on more than one occasion how the younger attendees enjoy them.
