Age UK BRWF is supporting Bromsgrove Walking Sports with his Walking Sporty Friends initiative, which is encouraging people to 'connect' through walking sports.

Bromsgrove Walking Sports Centre has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery‘s Local Connections and on 12th November (at the Bromsgrove Cricket, Hockey & Tennis Club) there is going to be a free 'Open Morning' for people to come along and try several different walking sports, as well as to chat over refreshments afterwards. Members of the Age UK BRWF Team will be supporting the event.

Walking Sports Centre Leader Alan Gormley said “We are so pleased that we will be able to help isolated and lonely people in our communities by offering them the opportunity to try playing or volunteering at our Centre where they can make friends, have fun and get fitter too. We’ve been brilliantly supported through the process by the Age UK Bromsgrove Redditch & Wyre Forest team
Since we began playing walking sports in the area in 2017 we have had people from all walks of life. Some of these had a background of loneliness and isolation. They have experienced the benefits of our Centre including friendship, fitness, and lots of fun. This has helped their confidence and self esteem. We hope that our project will help more people in this way”
