The Govenek community shines during our annual plant sale

Published on 11 September 2025 11:26 AM

In the brief time since Jeff proposed our inaugural plant sale in September, staff and volunteers heard our rallying cry and got stuck in last Saturday; it's turned out to be a fantastic event for the local community, both inside and outside of Govenek (Newquay Hub), as we raised over £300.

A huge thank you to our clients, who created the promotional posters, and to the numerous contributors - too many to name - who generously donated their time and produce to make this event possible!

A special thanks to Kathy Page, David Butler, Claire Leverton, Sara Barker, and Debbie Cutler for either providing beautiful plants or assisting with the organization and execution of the day.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to our Donna and Rebecca for coordinating everything so seamlessly. We also want to extend our gratitude to our long-time nursery supporters, Meadowside of Carnon Downs - Ralph, his mother Anne, and Bryan - for their stunning rainbow selection of Impatiens Walleriana (Busy Lizzies) and giant Begonias, which will delight us well into 2026, along with a generous offer of exciting and unique shrubs and perennial flowering plants like Penstemon (the bearded tongues) and dianthus from Stephe Bohane’s nursery at Grampound Road.

The photos below capture a thousand words, along with the countless smiles of those who snagged some great deals and raised valuable donations for Govenek's amenities fund, which helps people thrive and flourish in later life.
