Go for Gold with us

Go for Gold is the title of Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's 50th Anniversary Year. To mark this momentous occasion, we produced a very special Go for Gold Legacy Book in 2023. This digital book highlights our amazing services, support, volunteers and staff - which all contribute to our aim of inspiring communities and individuals to age well.

In 2024, we will continue our celebrations in local communities and host & join events that raise awareness throughout Cornwall.

We have a packed few months in 2024. We are planning events at our Community Hubs in Newquay and Falmouth, arranging transport & welcoming over 400 people in a large marquee at Royal Cornwall Show, helping to clean up local Beaches (with the Beach Guardian team), working with Carlyon Golf Club, and getting active with the Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League.

Our goal is to host events until the end of 2024 - connecting with as many people as possible and enjoying a full year of celebrations focused on inclusivity, intergenerational connection, and sustainability.

We would also like to thank you, our partners, staff, volunteers, and the local communities for getting involved and celebrating this very special year.

Next up - TAP 20

In 2024, we will also be shouting loud and proud about *TAP (Transport Access People), which has been helping people with transport solutions for over 20 years.

*TAP (Transport Access People) arrange door-to-door transport for people who have difficulty accessing other forms of public transport.

They specialise in non-emergency healthcare appointments, social excursions, day centre transport, and helping people stay independent for longer.

Find out more about TAP here.

Throughout the year, we will be sharing short video's that celebrate our volunteers, staff, and partners. You can view them here.
