Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has been granted £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to establish a new sensory garden at the Age UK Falmouth Community Hub, situated in the historic Passmore Edwards Cottage Hospital on Killigrew Street.

This project aims to transform an outdoor area at the day centre into a vibrant and accessible sensory garden that will enhance the wellbeing of older adults visiting the hub. The garden will include features such as accessible pathways, raised planting beds, fragrant flowers, colorful plants, and spaces for relaxation and social interaction.

Designed to engage the senses, the garden will offer a calming and interactive environment where community hub clients can connect with nature, participate in gardening activities, and enjoy time outdoors.

In collaboration with the local landscaping business, Muddy Wellies Gardens, Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly will oversee the garden's construction. Work is slated to commence on March 30, 2026.

The goal of this funding is to help individuals connect, grow, and build a brighter future for years to come.
