The Capstone Dementia Day Centre and Pat Warner Suite runs a 12 week programme of cognitive stimulation therapy, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 - 15:00.
All activities are designed to maintain a balance of engagement, concentration, participation and social inclusion while at the same time providing a sense of fun. We pride ourselves on having an ethos that is centred around enablement, which is why we encourage all service users to do as much for themselves as possible.
This is achieved through the use of full time staff, working alongside dedicated and hardworking volunteers. At the day centres we provide all of our volunteers with core skills in communication, compassion along with an understanding of the needs of someone living with dementia.
As a volunteer you are a valued member of the care team and will therefore help to provide support to staff ensuring the best outcome for the client.
The roles of a volunteer at our Dementia Day Centres:
- Escorting clients on and off of the mini-bus
- Assisting with preparations for the day
- Meeting and greeting service users and or their relatives
- Supporting staff during and after activities
- Assisting at meal times
