A community-centered approach for personal problems, might be what you need most.

What is Social Prescribing?

Social Prescribing is a service which helps you to have more control over your own wellbeing and find ways to improve how you feel in a way that suits you. Functioning as a bridge between clinical and non clinical services, this service can address many personal needs by involving people with appropriate community or volunteer organisations in their area. This approach has been proven to improve physical and mental health, along with a general boost to quality of life.
If you think that you would benefit from our help and support, please speak to a member of staff at your GP surgery for a referral or you can refer yourself. Once referral has been made, a Social Prescriber will contact you, advise you on the waiting list, and offer your first appointment. Your Social Prescriber can support you for up to 6 sessions, and help you to make positive changes to improve your health and wellbeing. Our work is tailored to you so that you can get support in a range of activities such as: loneliness/befriending support, mental wellbeing, money worries, social activities/groups, social isolation, and bereavement.

Social Prescribing is available to support people aged 16+, who are registered with surgeries in the Scarborough and Filey Primary Care Network.
