Age UK Isle of Wight received the Silver Green Impact Award!

Silver Green Impact award.png

We as a charity decided to take part in the IOW Council Green Impact Scheme to support the Island’s climate and environmental strategy.

We are aiming to take simple, tangible actions, which help our staff to become more eco-friendly, ethical and environmentally aware. Being green will help us to improve environmental performance and reduce operational costs, whilst making the Island a cleaner greener and more attractive place to live and work.

A few of the things we have implemented so far:

  • All office tea and coffee purchases are from sustainable resources.

  • We recycle, compost, use WEEE waste for recycling technology and all of our paper waste goes directly to Wight Animal bedding.

  • We offer a hybrid working policy, and have now included mileage for cycling on expenses policy encouraging sustainable travel.

  • Our beautiful secret garden hosts bird feeders, compost bins, water butts and bug & bee hotels.

  • Information about ways to acces our offices via public transport, walking or cycling is provided to our clients and external partners visiting.
