Age UK Barrow & District is an independent, local charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of older individuals. We are deeply committed to providing essential support to older members of our community.  Last year, our Information & Advice team supported over 1000 clients and successfully processed 351 benefit claims, resulting in £1,278,470 being awarded in unclaimed and backdated benefits to older people in the local community. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our Information & Advice team who shares our vision, mission, and values. 

About Us:

Our Information and Advice Team offers invaluable support to older individuals in our community. From navigating benefit claims including exploring disability benefits, addressing personal care and mobility concerns to supporting with decisions on staying at home or moving into residential or nursing care, we strive to provide comprehensive assistance to those in need.

Role Overview:

As an Information & Advice Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering support to older individuals, both over the phone and in face-to-face interactions.  You will provide direct line management to I&A staff and volunteers through effective regular supervisions and ongoing wellbeing support.

You will ensure that all I&A performance is managed, delivered and recorded in a way that ensures we meet and exceed the quality standards framework with the Quality of Advice Standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to enquiries made by telephone or in person
  • Assisting clients with benefit claims/enquiries
  • Providing coaching and management to the Advisor and Administrator.
  • Providing impartial information and advice on local support services
  • Prepare and present quarterly monitoring reports including qualitative and quantitative data and case studies, demonstrating outputs and outcomes as agreed
  • Prepare and submit quarterly statistical returns to Age UK national team and such other monitoring reporting as required
  • Prepare for and maintain information of the Quality of Advice Standard and its Audit.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a management role with direct responsibility for line managing staff
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines
  • Ability to deliver information and advice, including benefit advice
  • Experience of working in an information and advice role
  • Experience of working with the general public, particularly older individuals
  • Experience in project delivery and collecting statistical information
  • Knowledge of social care
  • Full driving license with access to a car
