Age UK BRWF Coronavirus Update (22 April)

Published on 22 April 2020 03:24 PM

During these difficult and unprecedented times, Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest remains committed to providing the best support to older people across North Worcestershire.

If you are worried about how you or someone else will manage during the coronavirus crisis, we are here to help. Please contact us on 01527 570490.

Age UK has also produced a new guide about coronavirus (COVID-19) that includes information about the symptoms of the virus, how you can reduce the risk of catching the virus and spreading it to others, and how you can continue to look after yourself and others. It includes a useful organisations section with helpful signposts to other sources of specialist information.

Our services

Please be aware that due to the current coronavirus pandemic, we’ve had to postpone or suspend some of our services. We apologise for any inconvenience or distress that this may be causing.

While our buildings may be closed and our resources may be stretched we are still here to help:

  • Our free and confidential Information and Advice service has always been such a core and vital part of our work, however in the last few weeks we have seen an unprecedented increase in the demand for this service. Although all members of the team are now homeworking, our I&A service continues to operate, albeit that it is now a Telephone Service. To access the service, people should continue to contact our main Enquiries number (01527 570490), leave their contact details, along with a message - a member of the team will call them back at the earliest opportunity. Our I&A team can also be contacted via email (enquiries@ageukbrwf.org.uk) and via the Contact Form on our website
  • We have refocused our ‘At Home’ team in order that we can concentrate upon the shopping element of the service for our existing clients, in addition to trying increase our capacity to support new clients
  • We have temporarily replaced our face-to-face Befriending service with a telephone support service wherever possible, whilst our Care Call service is continuing as normal (and we are seeking opportunities to extend this service)

Age UK BRWF takes the health and wellbeing of our clients, staff and volunteers very seriously and we always work hard to ensure that everyone remains safe and well.  We are carefully following NHS and Government guidelines on how to best respond to the outbreak.

Please donate to support our vital services

Age UK BRWF needs your help to support older people during the coronavirus pandemic. With the Government’s recommendations for social distancing for people over 70, our services have never been more in demand.

We’re working hard to ensure our vital services can continue to safely help the older people who are reaching out to us during these deeply worrying times. We’re determined to be there for older people who need our help and especially those who have no one else to turn to, but we desperately need your support. If you can, please help us by making a donation:

We are so very grateful to everyone who is supporting us at this time – it means a huge amount to us and to the older people that we are supporting across North Worcestershire!
