We are searching for caring and passionate volunteers to join Govenek Community Hub (Newquay) and Falmouth Community Hub - find out more here or by contacting Donna at 01637 876150 (Govenek) or Lucy at 01326 316880 (Falmouth)

The Role

We run a variety of activities, clubs, and services from our Community Hubs in Newquay and Falmouth, aimed at supporting older individuals in enhancing their health and wellbeing. We are on the lookout for proactive volunteers to assist at these sessions and provide support to our hub teams. In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with participants, coordinate bookings, set up and dismantle equipment, listen to the needs of attendees, and serve refreshments.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about uplifting local communities and making a meaningful impact. To thrive in this role, you should possess a caring disposition, a 'can do' attitude, strong organisational skills, and be an attentive listener.

Activities and Classes

We offer numerous ways to support individuals, providing a wide range of options for living well in later life. Currently, our offerings include IT Support Cafés, Memory Hubs, Happy Voices (a dementia singing group), Carers Support Classes, Knit and Natter sessions, Crafting Groups, Nature Connections that support mental health & wellbeing, Falls Prevention, Balance & Stability courses, and Step into Wellness sessions.

When:

The Community Hub opening times are - Monday to Friday (0900-1600)

Additional information

Please provide any information you think will help us when recruiting for this volunteer role eg. Any skills, experience, hobbies, or training that might be useful/required.

Full training will be provided, which includes: Safeguarding, Lone Working, Data Protection, Dementia Friends Support and Digital training modules. Please note that an Enhanced DBS Certificate and suitable references are a requirement of this role (we will guide you through these processes).
