What can we do?

Everyone needs advice now and then, and we do not always know who to ask. Understanding the unknown, or asking for help, can prove stressful and frustrating, especially for those who live alone, and this is another reason why Age UK are committed to providing an Information & Advice service for those aged 50+. Our advisors can help give real answers to your concerns, and give you some peace of mind in the process. We can offer a full benefits check and help you to complete applications, along with understanding reviews or appeals. We can help with any housing issue, and provide guidance to other agencies and community groups if required. Social care matters are also considered (such as care payments and residential options), as are matters of personal health (such as self-improvement or combating isolation). As we offer a number of other services, we can also explain more about them, and if a practical solution is within our power to provide, we can get you started.

Information & Advice is a free, non-judgemental, and confidential service. If you are seeking help for yourself or for someone you know, or if you have any queries, please contact the main office; for typical enquiries, we will then arrange for one of our advisors to have a one-to-one conversation over the telephone.

Our office reception is open for Information and Advice queries from Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Outside of these office hours, you can telephone us on 01723 379058 and leave a message, we aim to respond to all messages the next working day.

If you prefer, you can call the Age UK national advice line, on 0800 6781602. Lines are open 8:00am to 7:00pm, every day.
