Memory loss? Dementia? Our volunteers make social visits to help your mind stay healthy.
Everyone forgets, but isolation often worsens memory loss or accelerates dementia. If you, or someone you know, has long-term memory issues or dementia, we might be able to help. Our volunteers are prepared to visit you at your home and look after your mental health. We are willing to listen, and by fulfilling your social needs, we aim to lessen your memory loss and maintain your independence. If you require accompaniment on walks, want help to access or attend other groups in the area, or even visit a café, we can help with that too.
Please note that this service is focused upon improving mental health, and does not include shopping or personal care. Furthermore, this project is only available in Scarborough. But, if you live outside of Scarborough, please contact us if you require help; our Information & Advice service will try their best to point you in the right direction.
The Memory Project is completely free, with flexibility for individual needs. After an initial assessment, where you meet the volunteer who shall visit on a regular basis, we aim to help you for as long as possible. Your health is our priority, and we make referrals to other services and organisations when necessary.
This service is funded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
