Information and support for carers of those living with dementia. All carers are entitled to their own assessment to determine if they are eligible for support.
If you are caring for someone with memory loss or dementia, Age UK Oldham can complete a Carers’ Assessment and, if you are eligible, apply for a Carers’ Personal Budget. This will help you to have some time out from your caring role or to alleviate some of the stresses that can arise when caring for someone.
Caring for someone covers many different aspects, such as helping with their washing, dressing or eating, accompanying the person to regular appointments and offering support when they are anxious. Carers are entitled to an assessment to find out if they are eligible for support to help them to carry on their caring role whilst looking after their own well-being. Carers can be eligible for support whether or not the adult whom they are caring for is receiving any help or support from social services or if they are in receipt of Carers Allowance.
Accessing this service
Access to the service is by referral from the Memory Clinic Practitioners, Social Workers and GPs. In addition, people can self-refer to access a Carers Assessment, telephone consultation or use our drop in service through the contact details below.
