Dementia Support Service offering more support than ever

Published on 16 July 2021 11:25 AM

Our Dementia Support Service has expanded the range of support available for people affected by dementia in Salford.

Our new referral form acts as a one-stop-shop for the entire service, from one to one online person-centred counselling and coaching support for carers, peer support and social groups for people affected by dementia through to a learning hub for self-development that includes training on legal and finance, carers rights, personal care and improving communications.

All those referred will be appointed their own Dementia Worker; who will work with carers and people living with dementia to identify and get the right support at the right time for them.

Dave Haynes, Chief Executive Age UK Salford said: “We are delighted to be providing this extended and flexible range of services for people with dementia and carers every step of the way. The new referral form makes it an easy process for self-referrals and for professionals to select what type of support would be most helpful.

“The pandemic has highlighted a greater need for our service to offer support from diagnosis through to bereavement, the importance of support services, counselling, and training – but also of activities that provide light relief and help maintain and build relationships.  We look forward to working with more people across the city to support their needs.”
