Age UK Salford is 50

On Wednesday 24th April, Age UK Salford unveiled a special anniversary window mural at their Head Office to commence the charity’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Age UK Salford turned 50 in November 2023, as one day isn’t enough to celebrate this significant milestone, the charity will commemorate it throughout 2024 and round-off with a community conference in November.

The mural, created by Graphic Designer, Charlie Snowdon is made up of the faces of staff, volunteers, trustees, and service users and can be seen outside the Age UK Salford offices on Church Street in Eccles.

The charity held a cake sale organised by the volunteers from Critchley Community Hub in Swinton, a social centre run by Age UK Salford to kickstart the fundraising initiatives linked to the anniversary.

Maureen Jolley, Chair of the Board of Trustees said: we want to take the opportunity of this special anniversary to shine a light on the work the charity does supporting and helping older people in Salford and all it has achieved in just over 50 years.”

Dave Haynes, Age UK Salford Chief Executive said: we are delighted to be celebrating our 50 years of working with older people in Salford and this is all the more important when we are working in a challenging financial climate, as are many of our peers and we want to reinforce the message with older people in Salford, that we are here when you need us.”
