Millions of older people are facing the ups and downs of life almost entirely alone. They have no one to turn to for the support that can make all the difference when times are tough.
At Age UK South Kent Coast, we try to combat loneliness in later life for local residents, one such way is with our Keep In Touch (KIT) scheme.
How Keep In Touch (KIT) works
KIT is a telephone friendship service for people over the age of 55, you can contact us directly, or refer someone who you think may benefit from this service.
These people could be:
- Living alone
- Living away from their family and friends
- Socially isolated or lonely
- Recently bereaved
- Caring for someone
- Isolated from their community due to physical disability or health problems
- Recently out of hospital or experiencing a significant change to their daily living arrangements
KIT is run and operated by our dedicated volunteers, who give up their time to keep this vital community service running.
If you would like to refer someone (with their consent) or are interested in volunteering, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call on: 01303 279 621
