New advice drop-in session opens in Pershore

Published on 13 October 2025 12:06 PM

A new Information & Advice outreach resource for older people has started in Pershore. Age UK Wyvern are now offering a drop-in session twice a month at the Pershore Wellbeing Hub on the High Street, with the aim of helping people make the most out of later life.

The sessions run from 10:00am to 1.00pm on the second and fourth Friday of every month. Everyone over 50 is welcome to call in for information on topics such as benefit entitlement, finding care, keeping their homes warm and joining local social groups. The advice provided is free and confidential, and future appointments can be made for more complex issues.

Sarah Turner, Information and Advice Service Manager at Age UK Wyvern, commented, “We’re thrilled to be offering this new resource, which we hope will help more older people access the services we provide. We realise that many people feel happier talking to someone face to face and the Wellbeing Hub offers a warm and welcoming setting.  We can provide information on a wide range of local services and if we can’t help someone, we will point them in the direction of someone who can”.

With the winter approaching, many older people are becoming worried about paying their bills. Benefits such as Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit can help but the long and complex application forms put many people off. Age UK Wyvern can help people check if they are eligible and guide them through the application process. Sarah Turner adds, “Last financial year we helped people claim £1,697,878 in benefits and this year we hope to do even better".

Age UK Wyvern was formed in 2024 after the merger of various smaller Age UK's and provides a raft of support to older people in South Worcestershire, including towns such as Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Malvern and Broadway, as well as across Herefordshire. Services range from Digital Cafés and social projects to help for those living with dementia or leaving hospital.
