New year clothing appeal
Published on 06 January 2026 11:45 AM
We are holding our first stock donation drive at our Malvern office on Wednesday 14th January. Members of the public are being asked to bring their pre-loved items such as clothes, toys and bric-a-brac, to Wyvern House on Portland Road between 8.30am and 12.00pm, to doante and be sold in our charity shops to raise income for the charity.
Donations of clothes, footwear, books, toys and games are all welcome and will help to boost stock in our 13 shops across Herefordshire & South Worcestershire. We are hoping that people undertaking a new year clear out will donate to the initiative, which helps raise funds in a sustainable way. Income from the sale of donated goods contributes to supporting the funding of Age UK Wyvern services, providing an essential lifeline to older people and their families.
Emma Yates, Director of Income Generation at the charity, made this appeal:
“We are urgently seeking donations of clothing and other items to sell in our stores. From winter woollies, to swimwear, shoes and accessories - anything you donate to any of our stores is greatly appreciated. Everything donated raises money for the vital work we do supporting older people. We encourage people to gift aid their donation if they can, as this raises an extra 25% for Age UK Wyvern when it’s sold.”
We rely on funds raised from our charity shops to maintain crucial services to older people. Many services, from help for people leaving hospital to drop-in advice sessions and digital cafes, are provided free of charge. Last year, staff helped over 3000 older people to claim a total of £2,228,480 in unclaimed benefits, enabling them to stay independent for longer. This help is needed now more than ever; research from national Age UK reveals that almost two million older people across the country are living in poverty and almost one million report that they often feel lonely.
Our retail van will be at our Malvern Office to receive donations on the 14th January, but donations can also be dropped off at any Age UK Wyvern charity shop.
