Falmouth Plant Sale is a Blooming Success

Published on 12 May 2026 02:04 PM

Jeff Muir, Lead for Age UK Cornwall Gardening Service, received exceptional support from a dedicated team of impactful volunteers (see picture above) during the inaugural plant sale held in Falmouth this May.

Thanks to your collective efforts, over £560.00 was raised at the event.

This substantial amount will be instrumental in funding our horticultural therapy sessions, which are an integral part of our Gardening Club’s Growing Together Programme. These sessions aim to provide therapeutic benefits to our clients, fostering a sense of community and wellbeing through gardening activities.

The funds will help ensure that these valuable sessions can continue to support our clients, allowing them to benefit from the healing power of nature and gardening.

A heartfelt thank you from Jeff

"There are many acknowledgments to make, but I want to begin with those who contributed significantly on the day. Whilst I may not know everyone’s names who attended, I hope that anyone who reads this can convey my heartfelt gratitude for their support. The event was truly wonderful, and has raised over £560 - what a brilliant achievement."

Making this an annual tradition

Thanks to the success of the plant sales at both Govenek (Newquay) and Falmouth Community Hub, I am optimistic about establishing this as an annual event. It was wonderful to see familiar faces from Falmouth come out to support us, and it was deeply gratifying to see everyone enjoying the new sensory garden – it is truly thriving now, and I hope it continues to flourish.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated items, participated, and visited us on the day. Events like this wouldn't be possible without your support. We look forward to seeing you at our next gathering!
