Published on 22 April 2026 07:26 AM

The WorkWell programme, funded by the DWP and brought to life through the VCSE Community Gateway partnership, is a groundbreaking work and health coaching prevention service in Cornwall, one of 15 pilot areas.

The programme was led by Age UK Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, this 18-month pilot programme not only showcased pioneering coaching methods but also achieved remarkable outcomes for participants and nurtured strong cross-sector relationships.

In total, from October 2024 to March 2026, WorkWell supported 1,112 people to start, stay, and succeed in work, with an impressive 98% reporting that their needs were fulfilled. Additionally, 81% of participants expressed increased confidence in managing health challenges at work. The programme also offered 301 personal health budgets - which focus on helping individuals overcome the obstacles they encounter in the workplace; 100% of participants stating that this was extremely important to them getting back to work and/or staying in work.

Thanks to this resounding success, WorkWell will continue to flourish in Cornwall, and is now under the leadership of Pentreath, supported by a strong collaboration of community partners such as The Chaos Group and Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change.
