After a year shut away from the world, many older people feel like they have been robbed of what is left of their future.

For some, the anxiety brought on by the pandemic has been unbearable. Many are struggling with self care, loss of appetite and motivation to manage medications and health conditions. You can help us provide the vital services they need today so they no longer have to struggle alone.

During the last lockdown, 36% of older people said they felt more anxious than before the pandemic

For many older people, the anxiety is all encompassing. They feel as if everything is too much to cope with and they are starting to lose hope.

Amrita is no exception. Since her husband died she has felt increasingly lonely.

Amrita Image 02 500x300.pngThat loneliness in turn left her feeling depressed. She spent her days staring out the window at the birds and squirrels outside. Seeing them paired up just emphasised her own sadness.

Thanks to supporters like you, Amrita now has a 'telephone friend' through our Telephone Friendship Service. Every week she looks forward to the calls that let her know she isn’t alone. Her mental wellbeing has improved and she feels she can face the future with more confidence.

Age UK provides vital support and advice to older people like Amrita. Your donation today means she and the millions like her who are struggling with their mental health always have someone to turn to.

Last year we supported more than 100,000 calls from older people struggling with loneliness through our Telephone Friendship Service.

Your donation could help us reach even more of the 1.4 million older people who urgently need our support.
