Through the long months of lockdown, even the most resilient of people are struggling to cope. Though lockdown is lifting, for many vulnerable older people living alone, the loneliness is far from over.
Since Amrita's beloved husband died almost 10 years ago, she has struggled with feelings of loss and loneliness. She loves to watch the birds and squirrels from her window, but even this simple pleasure is tinged with sadness:
"They all have their own little partners. It just makes me remember how alone I am."
Amrita's life was transformed when she came across the Age UK Telephone Friendship Service.
Now, her weekly chats with her Telephone Friend are the highlight of her week.

With your donation today you could help us reach another older person like Amrita and give them much-needed comfort and companionship. Thank you.
