Age UK Hythe, Lyminge and Ashford – Meals on Wheels With a Difference
There’s nothing quite like a hot, home-cooked meal - especially when it’s brought right to your door with a friendly smile and a caring check-in. At Age UK Hythe, Lyminge and Ashford, we’re proud to deliver exactly that, 365 days a year, through our Community Meals Service (also known as Meals on Wheels).
But it’s not just about food - it’s about friendship, nutrition, and dignity. Our service supports older adults, vulnerable residents, and anyone who finds it difficult to shop or cook for themselves. Whether someone is recovering from illness, living with a disability, or simply in need of a helping hand, we’re here to make daily life a little easier - and a lot tastier.
What’s Included
Each delivery includes a hot, two-course meal, prepared fresh that day by our wonderful kitchen team. Meals are nutritionally balanced, tailored to your dietary needs, and served up with care.
Some recent favourites from our menu include:
- Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables
Followed by a classic Trifle or a comforting Rice Pudding and Jam. - Minted Lamb Stew with Mash
Rounded off with a zesty Lemon Posset and Shortbread. - Fish Pie with Seasonal Vegetables
Paired with a light Summer Fruit Pavlova. - Chilli Con Carne with Potato Wedges
And a decadent Toffee Cheesecake or Chocolate Brownie with Cream.

Menus change weekly, offering variety and something to look forward to each day. You can pre-order by the month or choose day by day (just order before 10:15am).
More Than Just a Meal
Our Community Meals Service provides more than food - it’s often a lifeline of human connection. For many clients, our delivery drivers are the only friendly face they might see that day. Every visit comes with a smile, a gentle check-in, and the reassurance that someone is looking out for them.
Families and carers also gain peace of mind knowing their loved ones are not only fed, but cared for - by a team that genuinely wants to help.

Why It Matters
Let’s be honest - cooking every day isn’t easy when you’re not feeling your best. Whether someone’s just out of hospital, living alone, or simply finding things tougher than they used to, a hot meal and a friendly face can make all the difference. That’s what our Community Meals service is really about. Yes, it’s nutritious and convenient - but more than that, it’s caring, reliable, and personal. We’re not just dropping off lunch. We’re checking in, making sure someone’s okay, and helping people feel a little less alone. It’s simple support, but it goes a long way.
How to Get Started
Getting started is simple. Just give us a call on 01303 269602 and our friendly team will walk you through the options. We’ll talk about food preferences, dietary requirements, and set up a delivery plan that works for you.
Meals can be ordered in advance or booked daily (before 10:15am). For weekend meals, we just ask that orders are placed during the week, as our offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You can find up-to-date menus on our Community Meals page. They’re updated monthly and feature each month’s menu calendar. You can book your full month of meals ahead of time if it makes things easier.
Know Someone Who Could Benefit?
If you have a friend, neighbour or loved one who might need a little help with meals or could use a regular friendly visit, please share this with them. A hot lunch and a warm smile might make more of a difference than you think.
Because at Age UK Hythe, Lyminge and Ashford, we believe care should come with comfort - and a good dessert.
