Finding friendly faces, meaningful conversation, and a reason to get out and enjoy the day can make a huge difference to anyone’s wellbeing. At Age UK Hythe, we believe later life should be full of joy, connection, and opportunities to socialise. That’s exactly why we run our Golden Oldie Youth Club — a vibrant, welcoming daytime club designed to bring older adults together for fun, laughter, and a sense of community.
Located at Sanford House, Stade Street, Hythe, Kent, CT21 6BD, the Golden Oldie Youth Club is open Monday to Friday from 10:30am to 2:30pm. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, rediscover old hobbies, or simply enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere, our club offers a relaxed space where everyone is made to feel valued. Many people who attend tell us it becomes the highlight of their week — a place where they can be themselves, share stories, and feel part of something special.
A Welcoming Space Filled with Activities and Companionship
Our team works hard to ensure each day at the Golden Oldie Youth Club offers something enjoyable. We focus on simple pleasures: conversations over a cup of tea, classic games, light-hearted group activities, and plenty of laughter. It’s a supportive environment where people can connect, unwind, and have fun without pressure or expectations.
Games such as dominoes, cards, or board games often spark friendly competition and great conversation. Some days focus more on reminiscence activities or gentle mental stimulation, while others simply revolve around socialising and enjoying each other’s company. The goal is always the same — helping older people feel engaged, included, and uplifted.
If you’re looking for daytime social activities in Hythe or a community club for older adults, the Golden Oldie Youth Club offers an ideal place to start. Many attendees say the club has helped them build confidence, widen their social circle, and regain a sense of routine and purpose. For those who may feel isolated or simply want more social contact, this club offers a warm bridge back into the community.
Affordable and Accessible for All
We aim to keep the Golden Oldie Youth Club as accessible as possible. The cost is £31.40 per day (which includes a delicious two-course lunch), helping us provide a safe, friendly, and well-supported environment. Age UK Hythe takes pride in offering high-quality services that genuinely enhance people’s wellbeing, and this club is no exception. We welcome both regular attendees and those who may want to try it out for the first time — there’s never any pressure to commit, and new members are always greeted with a smile.
A Community You Can Belong To
Older people deserve vibrant social lives, meaningful friendships, and places that feel like home. The Golden Oldie Youth Club reflects Age UK Hythe’s commitment to supporting older residents across Hythe, Lyminge and Ashford. We’re passionate about creating opportunities for connection and companionship, especially for those who may not have many chances to socialise elsewhere.
If you or someone you love could benefit from a friendly daytime club, we’d love to welcome you. Our team is happy to answer questions, help you get started, or arrange a visit.
