The Big Knit Hats Are Now on Sale!

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news — the Big Knit hats are now officially on sale.

A huge thank you goes out to all our wonderful Age UK Hythe, Lyminge and Ashford knitters and crocheters, who have once again shown incredible creativity, generosity and community spirit. Together, you’ve created a remarkable 16,994 little woolly hats for this year’s Big Knit campaign — part of Age UK’s long-running partnership with innocent drinks.

Each of these beautiful miniature hats will soon be sitting proudly on top of innocent smoothie bottles in Sainsbury’s and Co-op stores across the country from Wednesday 8 October. Every hat sold helps to make a real difference to older people in our community and beyond.

For every smoothie sold wearing one of these charming little hats, Age UK receives 30p, which goes directly towards providing vital services and support for older people. From offering friendly phone calls and home visits, to helping with practical support and advice, these funds help ensure no one has to face later life alone.

This year’s nationwide effort has been nothing short of inspiring. Across the country, knitters have created an astonishing 1,362,956 hats – all stitched with care and compassion. It’s a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for a good cause.

Our local team is incredibly proud to be part of this heart-warming initiative, and we’re so grateful to everyone who picked up their needles and crochet hooks to get involved. Your time, skill and dedication are truly appreciated — every single hat contributes to helping us make a difference in older people’s lives.

So, next time you’re doing your shopping, keep an eye out for the Big Knit smoothies in your local Sainsbury’s or Co-op. Pick one up, show your support, and help raise funds for Age UK’s important work — all while enjoying a delicious smoothie topped with a little handmade hat.
