Donations sought for new Leominster shop
Our Leominster shop is reopening its doors on Tuesday 3rd March and will aim to raise funds for Age UK Wyvern. Final preparations are being made to the store which is located on West Street in the town centre.
Local residents are being encouraged to donate pre-loved, good quality items of clothing, bric-a-brac and household goods, both before and after the shop opens. Items can be dropped off at the rear of the property, which can be accessed via the Central Area Car Park off Burgess Street. The new venture will raise funds for Age UK Wyvern, supporting invaluable services for older people, such as help after hospital discharge, dementia advice and support claiming benefits.
We run local projects such as the pop-up shed at Norfolk House, Etnam Street in Leominster, which allows older people to try out DIY and crafts. It has also developed the very successful Sheds Together scheme which is shortly moving into larger premises at Westington Works on the A44 between Leominster and Bromyard, as well as running sessions in Ledbury.
Linda is in charge of setting up our Leominster charity shop. She’s keen to take on volunteers to help with jobs in store, whether that be working on the tills, creating shop displays or stocking shelves. Dan Goodby, Retail Commercial Manager at Age UK Wyvern, commented on the importance of local support for the shop, “We’re putting out a call for anyone who can spare some time volunteering for a good cause. Being part of our retail team is fun, sociable and a great way to learn new skills. Our chain of shops across Herefordshire and South Worcestershire depend on the goodwill and commitment of valued volunteers, as well as the generous donations of stock to sell.”
