Age UK Barnsley offers a free and confidential Information and Advice service for over 50s, as well as their families and carers.
About Us
Our experienced staff have extensive knowledge of benefits available to over 50s, along with a strong understanding of local facilities and services.
If we’re unable to provide the information or advice you need, we will always aim to signpost you to an appropriate organisation.
We can also offer home visits and pre-arranged appointments where circumstances make this necessary.

Our Advisers are trained to help you in many areas, and will be able to support you with Advice and Information on the following:
• Benefits – free benefit checks, to identify entitlement to Pension Credit, Housing/Council Tax Benefit, Disability Benefits, Carers Allowance and provide help with applying for benefits
• Social Care – Getting help at home, funding of social care, assessment process, support for carers and other relevant advice
• Housing – Information on Housing Options such as Social Housing
• Your Home – Information on Aids and Adaptations, preventing falls, Staying Safe
• Legal – Information on Wills, Power of Attorney, how to deal with an estate
• Energy – Free Home energy Checks, installation of small energy efficiency equipment, advice on energy efficiency measures/grants, Warm Homes Discount and cost of living payments
