We are excited to be taking part in Older People's Day at Broad Street Mall again!

The dementia friendly event starts at 10 am and will be followed by a host of free entertainment including live musical performances, Tai Chi, Origami and a special visit from The Mayor.

There will be over 30 information stalls, with organisations ranging from advice and support agencies, to social and exercise groups, with representation from the different communities across Reading.

UK Older People’s Day is on 1st October every year to coincide with the UN International Day of Older Persons. The main aim for the day is to celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy. Older People’s Day supports the campaign to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes.

For more information about the event or to get a free booklet with information about local services please email opwg@reading.gov.uk or call 07811 026070.

Fiona Price, CEO of Age UK Berkshire says; “Following a difficult year, we are thrilled to be back at the Broad Street Mall to celebrate Older People's Day, this will be a great event for the older Reading residents and we look forward to welcoming them’.

Organisations supporting the event include: Age UK Berkshire and Age UK Reading, Reading Museum, Healthwatch Reading, Reading District Oddfellows, MacMillian Cancer Information, Berkshire Vision, MyCareMyHome and The Royal Berkshire Hospital.

We will also be in the Lexicon in Bracknell and the Market Place in Wokingham if you want to come and say hello to our team!
