Join our online community today

Our online Gloucestershire Springboard Group is a Facebook group for local older people, and those supporting them, to come together in a safe and welcoming space online.

The group is an online community hub where you can make new friends and stay in touch with one another, as well as with Age UK Gloucestershire and some of the individuals and organisations working with us. The group provides information, ideas, links to local activity, and reassurance.

We established the group back in 2020, when the pandemic meant that people were no longer able to meet up in public spaces. Although our Springboard Social Groups are, thankfully, back up and running, the online group lives on as a central hub!

Group membership is growing every day, with people connecting and enjoying the friendship and activities on offer. So far, members have enjoyed everything from quizzes to live cookery demonstrations and even a virtual disco. Alongside the activities, there’s general chit-chat, fun and sharing of stories and experiences.

We host regular Tuesday “Cuppa with Jane” sessions – a chance for members to gather for a chat on Zoom. And, on the first Tuesday of each month there’s “IT and Tea” Zoom with our Digital Connections Volunteers, helping with queries such as emails, Facebook, software update questions and more.

The group also enjoy contributions from local creative people, such as a county historian and a theatre group, so there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

How to join

The group is private and moderated by Age UK Gloucestershire.  Older people around the county who use Facebook, can request membership by looking for Gloucestershire Springboard or visiting
