Covid-19. Update to service delivery
Social clubs - On hold.
All social clubs, coffee mornings and our planned men's group are on hold until further notice. We must prioritise the safety of our staff, volunteers, and particularly clients through this period.
Happy Feet - Returing to Service!
Our Happy Feet service is now slowly re-opening. We have limited venues vailable to us and we have a new procedure which incorporates PPE, social distancing and cleaning. Cutting is by appointment only and we are slowly calling all exising clients to offer them a session. We have hundreds of clients who are all wanting an appointment! Please bear with us as we are very busy.
Information and Advice - continuing.
Our phones and emails remain in operation and we are endevouring to assit people with information and support as they come through. Please contact us if we can be of help.
Befriending- continuing
We are in contact with all our befriending clients over the phone and are also putting in regular calls to all our usual social clubs clients plus others who have identified as wanting to be called since the crisis arose. We have recently begun befrending in client's gardens where appropriate and safe.
Shopping and errands.
We are working to ensure older people who are isolated are being supported with things like shopping and other essential errands. We have a team of trained and vetted volunteers who can come and help with essential errrands. If yu know of someonewho wll require help to get their shopping in then please ask them to contact us.
Partnership Working
We are working hard with a focus of ensuring that older people are connected, supported, and equipped to get through this crisis. But we are not doing so alsone. We are working with a range of other charities and Reading Borough Council to ensure that all of the vulnerable people in the town are looked after until we can return to normal. The name of this partnership is the One Reading Community Hub Support On there you can find links to RBC Corona information and a freephone helpline 0808 1894325 (freephone) from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
