EMERGENCY COVID-19 APPEAL - HELP US RAISE £100,000

Published on 27 March 2020 02:10 PM

Age UK West Cumbria needs your help to support older people during the coronavirus outbreak.

DONATE HERE

To ensure the safety of our clients, staff and volunteers, we have had to temporarily suspend our Day Activities, Footcare, Handyperson and Retail services. These provide the main source of income for our organisation, meaning we lack the funding needed to continue.

This comes at a time when Age UK West Cumbria’s services have never been more in demand.

Despite this, we are working hard across West Cumbria to ensure our vital information and advice service, befriending service, and new helpline and food delivery service can safely help older people who are reaching out during these deeply worrying times.

We are determined to be there for older people in West Cumbria, but we desperately need your support.

We are aiming to raise £100,000 to help us be there at a time of national crisis.

By donating to Age UK West Cumbria, you will help us reach the older people who need us most by providing:

✅ Access to our dedicated helpline designed to provide older people with low-level information, advice and most of all, reassurance.

✅ Free expert information, advice and support with issues like benefit entitlement, heating and bills, social isolation and housing.

✅ Access to our telephone befriending service to help tackle loneliness.

✅ The delivery of food parcels to older people in the community who are either unable to access essential items.

✅ Ideally, we would like to provide food boxes for free to the most vulnerable older people in our community.

Every penny counts, here is what your donation could do:

✅ £5 could pay for the delivery of two essential food parcels.

✅ £10 could pay for one hour of support via our dedicated coronavirus helpline.

✅ £25 could pay for an assessment of an older person’s benefit entitlement.

✅ £50 could pay for five telephone befriending sessions with a lonely older person.

✅ £100 could pay for one benefit assessments, two hours of helpline support, three telephone befriending sessions and the delivery of five essential food parcels.

✅ £500 could pay for fifty free basic food parcels, delivered to the most vulnerable.

✅ £1,000 could pay for an hour of weekly befriending support for seven lonely older people for the next three months.

✅ £5,000 could pay for an additional Information & Advice worker for three months, who can help support older people with things like benefit entitlement, heating and bills, social isolation and housing.
