Key workers from the United Utilities call centre in Whitehaven have raised £150 for Age UK West Cumbria by holding virtual ‘keepy-uppy’ football challenge during lockdown.

Charity challenges, which happened weekly at United Utilities’ call centres before the lockdown, have now been resurrected by colleagues working on their own from home using apps like WhatsApp and Paypal.

The team raised £150 through their football challenge, which has been donated alongside an additional £500 from United Utilities.

Deputy Chief Executive Jane Mindar said: “We are thankful to receive this generous donation at this time of crisis, when charities are struggling due to having very little income. It will help us keep supporting vulnerable older people during this difficult time.”

We would like to thank United Utilities and all the staff involved in the ‘keepy-uppy’ football challenge for their kindness and generosity.
