Trustee Vacancies

Published on 22 September 2022 10:27 AM

We are urgently seeking dedicated and passionate people to join the Age UK West Cumbria Board of Trustees.

Our trustees are essential to our success as a charity. As a trustee, you'll set our direction and hold staff to account, making sure we're always doing the best we possibly can for older people in Allerdale and Copeland

Why become an Age UK West Cumbria trustee?

As an Age UK West Cumbria trustee, you’ll help guide a charity that is focused on helping the older people in Allerdale and Copeland that need it most.

You’ll support our staff to deliver the best possible service through our five retail shops, three resource centres and nine different services - each designed to help older people with issues like loneliness, financial worries and living independently.

You’ll join a vibrant trustee team with a vast amount of professional and personal experience  in fields like; the charity sector, business, government, finance and education.

You’ll be warmly welcomed, supported to develop your skills and participate fully in the governance of our charity and all that entails.

This is a voluntary role, but all travel costs and expenses will be covered.

Who are we looking for?

No matter your professional experience, we would love to hear from you. There’s no trustee experience required, we just need you to be passionate, fair and genuinely care about helping older people in your local community.

It would be an added bonus if you:

  • Qualify as a ‘young trustee’ (aged 18-35)
  • Have experience working in governance
  • Have experience working or volunteering with older people
  • Have professional experience in legal, finance, health, local government, social care, HR, marketing or fundraising.

What’s the time commitment?

You’d be expected to attend eight trustee meetings a year – this includes six board meetings and two away days.

Will there be an induction?

Once recruited, you will  be given a full induction pack and taken on site visits of all our centres, shops and offices.
