Footcare in later life is very important to your general health and well-being. Nails can become toughened and difficult to cut, which can lead to feet being uncomfortable or even painful as a result of nails not being cut regularly.

What this service offers
Note: this is not a medical service, but a common sense approach to basic footcare.

•Regular nail cutting
•Basic advice on footcare e.g. we recommend cutting nails every 6 weeks
•Foot massage (session time permitting)
•Checks for suitable footwear

We work closely with the NHS Podiatry service. If necessary, we can make referrals for footcare problems such as corns and/or bunions.

Who can access this service?
Our footcare services are for anyone aged over 50 in the West Cumbria area. You may be asked a few questions about your general health and medication before your first session - this is to ensure that the service is suitable for you. Unfortunately, the service cannot be provided to people with certain medical conditions and/or some prescribed medication.
