We provide free information and advice to people aged 65+ in Copeland and Allerdale.
We provide support on a range of issues, including; benefits, heating and bills, daily living aids, social isolation and housing.
Our Information & Advice Service is delivered by trained and knowledgeable staff who can advise you on the best services and support to meet your needs.

This service is for anyone aged 65 and over who lives in Copeland or Allerdale.

Well@Home (Home from Hospital)
Supporting medically optimised patients with their discharge from hospital
Who is eligible?
People who are being discharged from hospital and who have a residential address in the districts of:
- Carlisle
- Eden
- Allerdale
- Copeland
You must be referred for this service. Talk to your hospital discharge team to see if you are eligible.
Befriending
We provide social support for older people in Copeland and Allerdale.
Telephone Befriending
Clients will be matched with one of our volunteers for regular chats over the phone. Your befriender will be there for you to confide in, to alleviate stress and loneliness.
Home Visits
One of our volunteers will arrange to meet in your home on a regular basis. They will provide you with support with shopping or preparing meals while also engaging in friendly conversations.

Cost of Living
With the cost of living rising in the UK in April 2022, the already vast issue of food poverty will be rising with it.
Many vulnerable people are experiencing some form of food insecurity and we understand that it is unacceptable for people to be living in those conditions.
Day Services
We run a day centre in Workington that currently runs 3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday & Friday. (Transport can be provided on request from Allerdale and Copeland areas)
Take part in a wide range of individual or group activities, stay for lunch and socialise in a caring environment.
Back From Beyond - Veterans Project
Support for older Veterans and their families from the Allerdale and Copeland area.
Help can range from advice and one on one support, to connecting people into activity and friendship groups, like walking football and breakfast groups.
Reconnecting Cumbria
Re-engaging local communities post Covid-19 to help:
- Alleviate lonliness and social isolation
- Promote healthy lifestyles
- Provide engaging activities to increase people's confidence
- Support people's mental health
- Help people to make more connections
- Encourage people to attend events in their local area
Equipment and Aids for Daily Living
We are an acredited retailer for aids and eqipment to support daily living.
Our team can provide help and advice to help you identify which aids can help you live safely and comfortably in and around your home.
We offer a wheelchair and mobility scooter hire service from our Workington Independant Living Centre - Click here for info
We stock a variety of daily living aids and equipment at our Independant Living Centre in Workington - from personal safety such as preparing food, moving around safely, bathing and toileting, leisure and more including:

- Eating and Drinking aids
- Bedroom aids
- Dressing aids
- CosyFeet footwear
- Bathing and Toileting
- Incontinence Products

We also offer an equipment delivery and fitting service for an additional charge.
Footcare Services
Who can access this service
This service is available for people aged 50 and over in West Cumbria. You will be asked a few questions about your general health and any medication you are taking. This is to ensure that the service is suitable for you. Unfortunately we are unable to provide the service to people who suffer from certain medical conditions or are prescribed with certain medications.
What the service offers
This is not a medical service but a common sense approach to basic foot care. This service offers:
- Regular nail cutting surgeries throughout West Cumbria
- We recommend cutting nails every 6 weeks
- Basic Advice on foot care
- Time permitting within a session a massage of the feet
- Checks on suitable footwear
If necessary we can make a referral for help with foot care problems (e.g. corns or bunions) and we work closely with the NHS Podiatry service.
Hearing Services
This is a FREE service offered to people 50+ who are struggling to hear, missing out on conversations and feel left out. We offer advice on how to get your hearing tested and how to look after your hearing aids.
