Travelling Companion volunteer

Could you help an older person in feeling more confident to get out and about?

As part of a new project called travelling Companions, we are looking for volunteers to provide tailored support to older people at risk of loneliness, to increase their confidence to get out and about. Whether it is getting to and from the shops, a doctor's appointment or a friends house, as a Travelling Companion you are enabling and accompanying an older person with these tasks.

Main responsibilties

  • Provide personalised support to older people to help them meet their goals
  • Understand the specific needs and goals of the individual engaging with the project, in order to better support them
  • Liaise with and report to staff about the older person / people who you have been matched with
  • Use pre-existing data recording templates, collect monitoring information from each support session and share with the Project Coordinator
  • To adhere to the policies and practices of Age UK Worcester & Malvern Hills
