Age UK Barnsley is proud to be a charity partner of the Barnsley 10K, with runners taking on the challenge and raising funds on behalf of our charity.
By signing up, you’re not just preparing for a race. You’re choosing to do something positive for your own health and wellbeing while helping to support people aged 50+ across our local community.
In Barnsley, many older people live alone and experience loneliness and isolation. For some, days or even weeks can pass without meaningful social contact.
By taking part in the Barnsley 10K and fundraising for Age UK Barnsley, you can help change that.
Every pound you raise stays right here in Barnsley, helping us provide local services, social groups, activities and support that enable people aged 50+ to stay connected, supported and involved in their community.
Looking Back: Two Years of Impact

2025: Our First Barnsley 10K
In 2025, around 20 incredible runners took on the Barnsley 10K for Age UK Barnsley, raising over £2,000, with every penny going directly towards supporting people aged 50+ across Barnsley.
These vital funds helped us continue providing groups, activities and support services that reduce loneliness and help people stay connected within their communities.
For many of our runners, the Barnsley 10K was about more than crossing the finish line. It was an opportunity to challenge themselves, improve their health and wellbeing, and make a positive difference to older people in their local community.
Race day was filled with a brilliant atmosphere, with supporters cheering our runners along the route and celebrating their achievements as they crossed the finish line. We were incredibly proud to see our first group of Age UK Barnsley runners come together, take on the challenge and raise vital funds for our charity.

2026: Bigger, Better & Stronger Together
2026 was even bigger, with 80 incredible runners coming together to raise over £9,000 for Age UK Barnsley.
We were delighted to see local organisations including Stagecoach, On Par and Barnsley FC Women’s Reserve Team take on the challenge, raising vital funds and showing their support for people aged 50+ across Barnsley.
Race day was about more than just running. Our runners could enjoy free pre- and post-race sports massages, while our fundraising awards celebrated some of the incredible efforts made throughout the campaign, including prizes for our highest fundraisers and standout fundraising efforts, kindly donated by Urban Burger and True North Bar.
It was fantastic to see so many people come together, support one another and make the 2026 Barnsley 10K such a memorable day for Age UK Barnsley.
