Age UK Lincolnshire is a thriving local charity supporting more than 6,000 people every month across Lincolnshire. We are now seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our Finance Team and play a key role in protecting and maximising organisational income.

Location: Lincoln, LN1 1UQ
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £24,687 per annum

About the Role

As Credit Controller, you will take ownership of the organisation's sales ledger and debtor management processes, ensuring customers are billed accurately and income is collected effectively. You will lead on debt recovery activities, monitor outstanding balances, provide detailed financial reporting, and work closely with managers across the charity to improve income collection and reduce aged debt.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who combines strong analytical skills with a compassionate and customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Manage the organisation's sales ledger and aged debt portfolio.
  • Monitor and recover outstanding debt across chargeable services.
  • Produce aged debt reports and identify high-risk accounts and trends.
  • Develop and implement debt recovery plans to improve collection performance.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Create, maintain and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Manage Direct Debit administration, including new instructions, amendments and failed collections.
  • Produce monthly performance reports and support financial forecasting.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer account and debt-related queries.
  • Work collaboratively with managers and operational teams to resolve account issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, data protection requirements and audit standards.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience within a finance, sales ledger or credit control environment.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and debt recovery processes.
  • Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience dealing with sensitive customer situations professionally and empathetically.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of credit control and debt recovery processes.
  • Knowledge of sales ledger administration.
  • Understanding of financial controls and audit requirements.
  • Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads effectively.
