Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire is an independent local charity – a brand partner of the Age UK – supporting more than 5,000 people every week. Our Support Services team are looking for new Gardeners following an increase in demand for our high-quality services across LN1 and LN2.

  • Monday to Friday
  • 08:30 to 16:00
  • Flexible Hours to suit - Zero Hour Contract
  • £12.21 per hour
  • Driving licence is essential

About the role

Our team of gardeners use our client’s own tools so candidates are not required to provide their own and a full induction is provided.

As part of our gardening team, your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Garden Maintenance

  • grass cutting & strimming of grassed areas
  • weeding & tidying borders
  • planting & pruning
  • hedge trimming
  • leaf collection
  • cleaning of wheelie bins
  • sweeping of paths
  • cleaning of paving and patio, power washing
  • cleaning of service user’s tools & equipment after use
  • placing garden waste in service user’s garden bin or compost area  

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of gardening
  • Understand the importance of and commitment to confidentiality
  • Have an understanding and appreciation of the needs of persons at risk
  • Be committed to the role, offer flexibility and be approachable
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills

Essentia requirements:

  • Recent prior experience of working in a similar setting
  • Committed to the provision of outstanding support services for our clients.
  • Will hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a car.
  • This role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Scheme.

Our gardeners have a passion for working outdoors and want to support older people in our communities to maintain their gardens. Experience of gardening or working in a similar setting is desirable. You should have an appreciation of the needs of older people and persons at risk, and understand the importance of confidentiality. Good communication and inter-personal skills are essential.   

As a zero-hours contract, availability for shifts and flexibility to work outside of your locality is key.
