From Mentors to Fundraisers, local Volunteers Urgently Needed

Age UK North Worcestershire has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers to support two important initiatives that will make a real difference to the lives of the older people living in the north of the county.
The charity is asking enthusiastic, caring and community-minded residents, who can spare just a few hours each month to get involved in one of two rewarding volunteering opportunities.
Volunteer mentors are needed for their new student led Generation Changemakers programme. Committing around three hours a month, mentors will support and inspire students taking part in the fundraising and awareness project from September through to December, helping them develop their campaign and fundraising ideas, confidence and leadership skills. The charity is also seeking fundraising volunteers who can give 2 hours to help with bucket collections.
Amanda Allen, CEO at Age UK North Worcestershire said: “Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Through activities, support services and trusted, tailored advice, we help older people stay independent, connected and confident in later life. Volunteering is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference so that no one in later life feels alone or unsupported.
We know people lead busy lives, which is why we're asking for just a small commitment that can make a huge difference. Whether it's three hours a month as a mentor or two hours helping at a supermarket collection, every volunteer helps us make a difference. Our collection volunteers work in pairs, so it's a wonderful opportunity to volunteer with a friend or meet new people while supporting a local independent charity. We'd also like to hear from anyone who wants to help us launch our exciting Generation Changemakers pilot and inspire the next generation.
Every local Age UK is an independent charity. This means funds raised locally are managed locally, helping older people in that community while benefiting from the strength and expertise of the wider Age UK network.
Working across Bromsgrove, Redditch, Wyre Forest, Droitwich and surrounding areas, Age UK North Worcestershire provides high quality local services and support for the over fifties, promoting independence and wellbeing".
