Lively Living lunch and social clubs are designed to provide a service for those who need extra support to leave the home. We work with clients to arrange their transport via our partners at Readibus. We meet the buses at the clubs and support clients to walk inside. We provide a safe enjoyable environment in which clients can socialise, play games and enjoy a good quality 2 course meal.

Our clubs offer company, recreation and support and can be a great way to make some new friends, or perhaps catch up with old ones.

Lunch clubsMost of the clubs run for about three hours.

Members are offered a cup of tea or coffee before lunch is served.

There is also time for socialising and a game or two of bingo and other activities such as singing or reminiscence.

We run 7 clubs at different locations around Reading. You can discuss which club is best for you or your loved one with our experienced staff.

Lively Living clubs are open to anyone over 55 years of age who lives in the area, however you do need to register with us and book a place by telephoning our office using the details below.

A subscription is payable each week at the club. Where possible we will also arrange transport for you with Readibus or another similar provider. This is sometimes available free of charge – please phone us for details.

Happy Prospects Saturday club

A club designed especially to give respite to family carers of older people. This 3 hour club is open for 26 sessions a year.

We provide support and care for people who find it difficult to leave the home, but we are not able to offer personal care at most of the clubs. We are currently piloting a new club in partnership with the Maples centre which will offer personal care. If you are interested in learning more about this service please get in touch.

To find out more about our lunch clubs you can call the main line or email clubs@ageukreading.org.uk or call us on 0118 950 2480.
